TGS students finish first in Latin translation competition

Congratulations to Corinne and Emily in Year 10 who  travelled to Battle Abbey School on 10 May to participate in a Latin Translation Tournament against schools from Kent and Sussex.

The competition consisted of three rounds – translating sentences, unseen prose text and short sentences from English into Latin – with half of the 22 contestants eliminated at each stage.

Well done to Corinne and Emily for achieving the highest aggregate score across all the rounds, and special congratulations to Corinne who won the individual prize as the highest scorer in the tournament.

‘It was a good test of our Latin skills under time pressure and we were delighted to win’
