Year 12 and 13 students attend Philosophy Conference at Southampton University

Year 12 and 13 Philosophy IB students enjoyed the opportunity to visit Southampton University for a conference. They explain more:

The visit to Southampton University provided an excellent opportunity to experience Philosophy in an academic setting. I found the lecture particularly interesting, especially its mathematical demonstration of the infinitude of the world. This was a fascinating introduction to an aspect of Philosophy I had not previously encountered in classroom settings.

The Philosophy Conference was really insightful and intriguing for me as I was introduced to so many different scopes of Philosophy in just one day. I particularly enjoyed the first talk on the question ‘Can we actually think about God?’ This was quite relatable to our HL curriculum on philosophy of religion, which allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of the subject. I also really enjoyed how interactive the whole conference is and the way the professors have simplified complex concepts so we could get a better understanding of the topics. Overall, the whole conference was really informative and I have really enjoyed the topics covered.
