Debating Team shines at regional final of Oxford Schools' Debating Competition

Tonbridge Grammar School's debating team has achieved outstanding success at the regional final of the prestigious Oxford Schools' Debating Competition. Four teams represented the school, showcasing their skills in rigorous debates on challenging and thought-provoking motions.

The motions debated were This House Would ban social media for children under 16 and This House Believes that the government should pay housewives and househusbands for their work. All four teams delivered exceptional performances, impressing both the judges and their peers.

A special congratulations goes to Zohha and Tilly, who emerged as the top team of the entire round. Their eloquence, critical thinking, and teamwork stood out, earning them the highest honors.

Another highlight was the remarkable performance of first-time debaters Zara and Safwa. Despite being new to the competition, their determination and poise carried them through to Finals Day, an impressive feat in such a competitive field.

These teams will now advance to the prestigious Finals Day, which will take place on 15 March. The school is incredibly proud of all the participants and wishes Zohha, Tilly, Zara, and Safwa the best of luck as they prepare to compete against some of the best young debaters in the country.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students. The school community eagerly awaits Finals Day and looks forward to celebrating more success in the future!
