Sixth Formers launch Japan Club

This Sixth-Form run club is a cultural club that provides younger students with the opportunity to learn more about the Japanese language and other elements of its culture.

Cristian, Year 13, one of the organisers explains more:

We have created a fun and educational programme which will include learning the basics of the language, watching Japanese films and making sushi. We are aiming to broaden students' perspective of Japanese lifestyle and helping them learn about something that may interest them.

In a recent session students learnt about a few important cultural staples within Japan, anime and manga, and attendees seemed to express lots of interest. We also gave attendees the chance to create their own Japanese comics and do some drawing. We also reviewed some language learnt last session and started to teach them numbers and some alphabet characters:
Hajimemashite! (nice to meet you!)
Konnichiwa! (hello!)
Genki desu ka (how are you?)
Genki desu! (I am good!)
Dozo yoroshiku! (pleased to meet you!)
