Medsoc are inspired by alumna who is studying Medicine at Cambridge

Our thanks to Alex who visited Medsoc to share her experience of her first four years at Fitzwilliam College.

Unusually for Medicine, Cambridge requires lots of essays to be written and has a very intense schedule, including supervisions during evenings and at weekends.

In the first three years, Alex had intense terms which lasted eight weeks, however this year she has been doing regular placements.

Some of the topics in her course have included:

  • Year 1
    • Molecules in Medical Science (MMS)
    • Functional Architecture of the Body (FAB)
    • Homeostasis (HOM)
  • Year 2
    • Biology of Disease (BOD)
    • Mechanisms of Drug Action (MODA)
    • Neurobiology and Human Behaviour (NHB)
    • Head and Neck Anatomy (HNA)

She also talked about the difference between dissection and prosection.

While this seems like a very intense course, Alex is also part of the Chapel Choir, with whom she was able to tour around Canada and USA and the Taylor Swift society!
