Well done to Year 7 footballers who played with great spirit in their debut match

Tonbridge Grammar School faced a tough challenge in their first-round Kent Cup football match, falling 4-2 to Meopham Secondary School. Despite the loss, TGS put in a spirited performance, with both Olivias scoring well-crafted team goals in the first half.

Having never played together before, the team linked up impressively to level the score at 2-2 by half time.

In the second half, TGS applied significant pressure, creating several chances and forcing great saves. However, they were caught on the counter-attack twice, conceding against the run of play to finish 4-2.

It was a closely contested match, with both teams performing admirably. Jessica earned Player of the Match for her tireless work in midfield and outstanding passing. Clara also stood out, making several impressive saves to keep her team in the game. Both teams performed admirably, and TGS put in an amazing effort. A big thank you to Meopham School for hosting.

It was great to see the students play their first competitive football match for TGS and they showed a lot of heart and spirit. The football was very good but the singing on the bus needs improvement! This is just the start for this group and I look forward to seeing what they can do as the season progresses.
