Spreading warmth and joy

Sending Christmas cards to elderly and lonely people in care homes is a simple yet powerful way to spread warmth and joy during the holiday season and has become a TGS tradition.

Many seniors experience isolation, especially during festive times when family and friends may be far away. A thoughtful card, filled with kind words, not only brightens their day but also reminds them that they are loved and remembered. This small act of kindness can significantly impact their mental and emotional well-being, offering a sense of connection and inclusion. Spreading seasonal cheer to those who may not have regular visitors fosters a spirit of compassion, helping to combat loneliness and ensuring that no one feels forgotten during the holidays.

This year, year 7 and 10 students have been busy writing the cards and we have over 20 care packs ready to post. Many thanks to all the students who took the time to write beautiful letters and poems.

I am just getting in touch to say a big and heartfelt ‘thank you’ for the wonderful package of cards and letters that your students sent to our residents. It was such a lovely surprise, and such a joy to read them all! What fabulous students you have. The thought, the questions, the drawings! (The fox was a particular favourite). Our staff and residents are loving them. Thank you so much! All the very best, thank you again, and I hope all at TGS have a wonderful Christmas.
