CAS Story: Year 8 Winter Ball

Year 8 students had an unforgettable time at the Winter Ball, an exciting event planned and delivered by Year 12 CAS students. With vibrant lights, a fantastic playlist, and an infectious energy, the dance floor was alive with fun and laughter all evening. The Year 12 students put in a lot of effort to create a lively and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring everyone felt welcome to dance and enjoy the night. Not only was the event filled with great music and dancing, but it also served a meaningful purpose. All funds raised from the event went to support the incredible work of Joshua in Malawi, helping provide much-needed resources for education and healthcare in Malawi. It was a night of joy, unity, and making a difference for a great cause.
Mrs Twinam, CAS and Internationalism Coordinator

I just wanted to say a huge thank you and well done from me for all your help with the Winter Ball on Friday - I think it was pretty clear that the Year 8s had a great time! It was brilliant to see you all so involved, on top of all the different jobs, and having fun yourselves, all of which was key to the success of the night. I don't think I've seen the Year 8s so unanimously involved and dancing so close to you all on the stage so solidly all night - it looked more like a concert at times! We raised about £870 for Joshua Orphan and Community Care which is amazing and will make a massive difference - this will most likely go towards supporting Community Based Care Centres in rural Malawi where the young children typically attend the centres for early years education and a free meal of Likuni Phala (fortified maize porridge) - this may well be the only meal some of these children get each day and the only access to even a basic education for many, especially the girls. About 1,000 children a day attend these and the fundraising from this will go a really long way in supporting them. Thank you.
