Page Turners Awards 2025

Students on a stage

It was, as ever, a pleasure to take students to Weald of Kent Grammar School last week for The Page Turners Book Awards. Along with over 15 other local schools we have been reading a shortlist of 12 titles set around the British Isles; exploring the theme of setting via a huge variety of genres.

It was a really enjoyable evening involving competitions, fancy dress, free books and live author talks. Our Year 10/11 Book Club made a fantastic trailer for Laura Bates' book - The Burning.

This year we had M.A. Bennett (S.T.A.G.S.), Simon James Green (Alex in Wonderland) and Catherine Johnson (Sawbones) talking about their books and answering questions in person and video talks from almost all the other authors. It was particularly gratifying to have our winning author M.A. Bennett with us to receive the award in person.

I am looking forward to choosing next year's theme and compiling the shortlist with all the other school librarians. Huge thanks to Weald of Kent for hosting another brilliant event.
