Year 13

The IB Diploma Programme was the leading factor in my decision to stay at TGS for Sixth Form. Not only proving academic recognition globally, the IB encourages the development of important life skills through its CAS programme which will help me to thrive in the future.

IB Diploma Programme:

Higher Level: Biology, Chemistry and Geography.
Standard Level: Maths Applications and Interpretations, English Language and Literature and Spanish.

Extended Essay: An investigation into the benefits of frequent exercise on cognitive function; with reference to Brain-derived Neurotrophic Factor.

Why did you choose TGS for Sixth Form?
The IB Diploma Programme was the leading factor in my decision to stay at TGS for Sixth Form. Not only proving academic recognition globally, the IB encourages the development of important life skills through its CAS programme which will help me to thrive in the future.

What do you think is special about the Sixth Form at TGS?
Having an area in the school, exclusive to only sixth form students, strengthens the connections that everyone has with one another, not only within your own year group; making the Sixth Form a safe environment where support is always available.

Describe TGS in three words.
Communal, supportive, welcoming.

What do you enjoy most about being at TGS?
TGS Sixth Form has a diverse range of talented, smart, considerate people who are always a pleasure to be around. This range allows you to meet a variety of people who all have different aspirations and interests, all inspiring and helping each other in their own ways.

What does your super curricular programme look like and how does it support your future aspirations?
As I want to pursue Medicine in higher education, I am always looking to further my knowledge and research in this area. In my free time, I tend to grab a book exploring different aspects of Medicine so I gain a holistic view. I have completed work experience in hospitals and clinics to increase my exposure in these environments to prepare me for the future and gain a deeper insight into the subject.  I’ve enjoyed the regular MedSoc meetings at school and the opportunity they have provided for me to meet, and communicate with, a wide variety of people working in Medicine and allied health professions.

What has been your favourite moment to date?
Personally, my favourite moment in TGS Sixth form was the Iceland trip towards the end of Year 12, which was offered to me through Geography. It was fascinating to see everything that we had learnt in the classroom in real life, extending my fascination of the subject. The school provides many trips across all of the subjects which allows learning to extend beyond the classroom, allowing knowledge to be attained in interactive ways.

What do you hope to do after TGS?
After TGS, I hope to go to university to study Medicine but also carry-on taking part in sports that I currently play now.
