Tiana

Year 12

The number of opportunities to engage with the community at TGS and the community itself is very unique to TGS, in that it provides a positive environment for every student to have a voice and shape their experience at school. The willingness of staff members to give up their time to support students if they are finding something challenging is also an incredibly precious aspect of the Sixth Form.  The inclusive environment and excellent facilities are also what I enjoy so much about TGS.

IB Diploma Programme

Standard Level: Latin, Psychology, English Language and Literature

Why did you choose TGS for Sixth Form?
For me personally, I chose TGS Sixth form because I feel the level of support that is offered and given is beyond anything I have seen before, which is what makes it so special. From well-being to academics, the Sixth Form Team go out of their way to ensure that every student can thrive and achieve the very best they can. I also feel that doing the IB Diploma is a valuable asset for, not just my studies at university, but also for the future as it provides a holistic education that equips students with the tools they need to succeed in life.

What do you think is special about the Sixth Form at TGS?

The willingness of staff members to give up their time to support students if they are finding something challenging is also an incredibly precious aspect of the Sixth Form.

Describe the TGS Sixth Form in three words:
Open, supportive and inspiring.

What do you enjoy most about being at TGS?
The extra-curricular activities such as debating are something I enjoy taking part in greatly as it is something that I am very passionate about and it is also very rewarding to see progress from where I started off at the beginning of the year.

What does your super curricular programme look like and how does it support your future aspirations?
I hope to pursue Medicine, so I attend MedSoc in which we cover many things from discussions on ethics to invaluable support on the application process itself which is incredibly helpful. Hearing guest speakers from within the medical profession has also been very insightful.

I also attend both ChemSoc and Biosoc some weeks which engage with topics that we may not cover within the syllabus, which I really enjoy. I have also read many books around the medical profession like ‘When Breath Becomes Air’ and ‘This is going to hurt’, which have given me an understanding of what it truly means to be a doctor.

What do you hope to do after TGS?
After TGS, I hope to go to university to study Medicine or Biomedical Sciences.
